Dating to the early 1960s, this Omega Ref. 14714-61-SC is a beautifully understated example of traditional Swiss watchmaking, combining elegant proportions with the clean, restrained design that defined the period.
The silver-toned dial has developed a distinctive, naturally aged patina, with fine spotting and subtle tonal variation across its surface. Applied baton hour markers, an Omega emblem and elegant faceted hands create a beautifully balanced appearance, while a slender central seconds hand completes the classic three-hand layout.
The 32mm stainless steel case retains the refined proportions associated with traditional dress watches of the period. Its polished bezel and gently tapered lugs give the watch an elegant profile, while the understated design allows the character of the dial to remain the focus.
Inside sits the Omega Calibre 285, a 17-jewel manually wound movement from Omega's celebrated 30mm movement family. The movement is correctly signed and carries serial number 16,919,288, consistent with production around the turn of the 1960s. The inside caseback confirms reference 14714-61-SC and its Swiss-made stainless steel construction.
Finished on a dark brown leather strap, the combination of aged silver, polished steel and rich brown gives the watch a particularly timeless appearance.
An elegant example of early-1960s Omega design, with the mechanical simplicity, refined proportions and naturally developed character that make vintage watches so appealing.
