The Longines Présence collection has long represented the quieter side of Swiss watchmaking — restrained proportions, traditional detailing and an emphasis on timeless dress-watch design. This example, originally sold in April 1990, is particularly appealing for its remarkably complete accompanying set.
The warm champagne dial is beautifully simple, featuring slender applied baton hour markers, fine hands and a framed date aperture at 3 o’clock. The traditional Longines signature and elegant Présence script complete a design that feels unmistakably of its period without appearing dated.
Measuring just 32mm excluding the crown, the gold-tone case retains the slim, elegant proportions associated with traditional men's dress watches. Long, narrow lugs give the watch a little more presence on the wrist, while the polished finish complements the warmth of the dial.
Inside is a Swiss quartz movement, providing the reliability and ease of ownership that defined an important period of Longines production.
The watch is currently presented on a black leather strap, while an additional brown leather strap is also included, allowing the character of the watch to be changed easily.
What makes this example particularly attractive is its accompanying provenance. The watch retains its original Longines certificate of origin / guarantee card, dated 11 April 1990 and stamped by historic British jeweller and watchmaker Bravingtons, together with its Longines literature, document wallet and presentation box.
